Chance The Rapper - Acid Rain

Sometimes the truth don’t rhyme
Sometime the lies get millions of views
Funerals for little girls, is that appealing to you?
From your cubicle desktop, what a beautiful view
I think love is beautiful, too
Building forts from broken dams, what a hoover could do
For future hoopers dead from Rugers shooting through the empty alley
Could’ve threw him an alley-oop, helping him do good in school
Damn that acid burn when it clean ya
I still miss being a senior
And performing at all those open mic events
High schools, eyes closed seeing arenas
And I still get jealous of Vic
And Vic’s still jealous of me
But if you touch my brother
All that anti-violence shit goes out the window along with you
And the rest of your team
Smoking cigarettes to look cooler
I only stop by to look through ya
And I’m only getting greedier
And I’m still Mr. Youmedia
And I still can’t find Talent
And I’m still choosing classmates that wouldn’t fuck
Mom still thinks I should go back to school
And Justin still thinks I’m good enough
And Mama Jan still don’t take her meds
And I still be asking God to show his face
And I still be asking God to show his face

This festival season…

I want to be back on the farm.

Ultra 2013 was my first EDM Festival. I’ve been to a couple raves before but all were kind of crappy. I like EDM… I don’t live off only EDM but I do appreciate it and listen to it pretty often. I went alone to Ultra and it was fun. I met some cool people and danced a bit but it didn’t really have much of an impact on me. I guess I was a little out of my element and still taking everything in. EDC Orlando, which happened about 2 months ago, was what changed my entire outlook on the whole rave culture. I embraced the PLUR lifestyle, I lost my inhibitions and danced my ass off which was totally unlike me. I was given my first kandi bracelet… It was green and yellow and said “BASS” in silver beads. I always thought plur and kandi was kinda stupid but it just clicked while I was there… I understood it. A lot like my hatred for dubstep until I tried lucy for the first time… now it’s still one of my favorite sub-genres in EDM. I felt the love at EDC… I really really did. I guess I’m still fairly new to this but I dig it and with every event I go to I like it even more. I guess the point of this post is DONT KNOCK IT UNTIL YOU TRY IT. If you’re at a festival where there is a tradition than I recommend you PARTAKE IN IT. Participating is half of the festival experience. It’s what makes you more than just an attendee… you ARE the festival. You cant do an EDM fest and not trade kandi. Just like you can’t go to Bonnaroo without screaming “BONNAROOOOO!” really loud just to have the entire crowd around you scream it back.

Music festival season will soon be upon us…

I’m not claiming to be a music fest veteran but I’ve been to a few… Maybe 5 now. They give me a feeling that I can’t describe. When I come back home from a fest my whole life is different. I’m inspired to accomplish so much. The music that I make comes to me quicker than I even have the energy to produce it. When before a fest I might have been lacking inspiration, after one a freaking fart can inspire me to make what I feel is a masterpiece.

I’ve met a couple people that have told me stories of how they’ve spent all summer traveling festival to festival. They tell me about all the great people they’ve met and unforgettable memories they’ve made… Each had stories of things that their favorite artists only did at the show they went to. I want that. I want to look back and be able to say that I traveled the United States for a summer just to go to different music festivals. I decided that I’m going to do it. I have a good job that I can quit and come back to so.. why not?

I’ve been saving money to make this happen and am going to try volunteering at the events for a ticket. I’ve gone on the interwebz looking for different festivals that I might be able to add to this journey but don’t have much knowledge about this sort of stuff. I’d like to do mostly camping festivals. Right now the festivals I am for sure doing this summer are Bonnaroo for the third time (Manchester, TN), EDC Las Vegas, and Electric Forest (Michigan). Im still very early in this planning process but the point is that I’m doing it and it’s exciting. If anyone has done this before and has some advice for me, shoot me a message. I’d appreciate it for realz.

BONNAROO: FORGIVE KANYE

Came across an older post from Kanye himself…. I’d really like to see Yeezy at Bonnaroo and hope we can all forgive him. Heres the post.

I am sick of negative people who just sit around trying 2 plot my downfall… Why???? I understand if people don’t like me because I like me or if people think tight clothes look gay or people say I run my mouth to much, But this Bonnaroo thing is the worst insult I’ve ever had in my life. This is the most offended I’ve ever been… this is the maddest I ever will be. I’m typing so fucking hard I might break my fucking Mac book Air!!!!!!!! Call me any name you want…. arrogant, conceited, narcissistic, racist, metro, fag whatever you can think of…. BUT NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL! NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL! THIS SHOWS NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY TO BE GOOD AT SOMETHING THERE WILL BE PEOPLE THERE TO LIE ABOUT YOU AND BRING YOU DOWN! LIKE WAYNE SAYS PLEASE DON’T SHOOT ME DOWN CAUSE I’M FLYING! I’M FUCKING HURT BY THIS ONE. ALL I CARE ABOUT ARE THE FANS. JUST SAY THIS OUT LOUD IN A ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE, “KANYE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT GIVING A GOOD PERFORMANCE.” CAN ANYONE HONESTLY SAY THAT ????????? HAS ANYONE EVEN TAKEN THE TIME TO AT LEAST DO THE MATH??? BONNAROO SHOULD HAVE RELEASED A STATEMENT IN MY DEFENSE BUT SINCE THEY HAVEN’T LET’S BREAK DOWN THE WALLS ON THIS TRUMAN SHOW AND LET YOU KNOW WHAT REALLY OCCURRED!!! FOR OVER A MONTH WE WENT BACK AND FORTH ON WETHER OR NOT WE COULD EVEN FIT MY STAGE AT THE FESTIVAL. ONE DAY THEY WOULD SAY YES… WE’D SEND THEM OUR SPECS THEN THEY THEY’D SAY OK… THEN THEY WOULD SEND SPECS BACK THAT DIDN’T FIT THE STAGE. WE WERE OBVIOUSLY DEALING WITH FUCKING IDIOTS WHO DIDN’T REALLY HAVE THE CAPACITY TO REALLY PUT ON THIS SHOW PROPERLY. THEY TRIED 2 GIVE ME A TIME SLOT WERE IT WAS STILL LIGHT OUTSIDE … I HAVE A FUCKING LIGHT SHOW DUMB ASS, IT’S NOT CALLED GLOW IN THE DARK FOR NO REASON SQUID BRAINS! MY PEOPLE WORKED OUT A COMPROMISED STAGE PLOT AND A 3AM TIME SLOT AND I AGREED. FAST FOWARD TO THE DAY OF THE SHOW. MY PRODUCTION MANAGER TRIED TO LOAD IN FOR 24 HOURS BEFORE I WENT ON STAGE BUT THE FESTIVAL WOULDN’T ALLOW US TO DO ANYTHING UNTILL PEARL JAM LEFT THE STAGE. PEARL JAM ENDED ONE HOUR
LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AT THAT POINT WE’RE RACING AGAINST THE SUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AT 4:20AM DON COMES BACK 2 THE BUS AND TELLS ME, ” IT WOULD TAKE 45 MORE MINUTES TO PUT ALL YOUR PYRO IN!” I SAY I HAVE TO GET OUT THERE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE . I HIT THE STAGE AND PEOPLE HAD BEEN THROWING SHIT ON THE STAGE AND HAD ACTUALLY HIT THE JANE SCREEN WITH, I GUESS BOTTLES OR SOMETHING AND HAD BROKEN MY FUCKING SCREEN. REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE A SHORTY AND WATER WOULD HIT THE TV?????? WHEN I GOT 2 “THROUGH THE WIRE” I STEPPED ON THE FRONT PART OF MY STAGE AND THERE WAS SO MUCH LIQUID ON THE STAGE I COULDN’T MOVE WITHOUT SLIPPING. I HAD TO ADJUST MY WHOLE PERFORMANCE STYLE BECAUSE OF IT. A FEW MORE SONGS IN AND THE SONG WAS ON IT’S WAY UP.. I CUT A FEW SONGS FROM THE SET BECAUSE I WANTED PEOPLE 2 EXPERIENCE STRONGER WHILE THERE WAS STILL SOME DARKNESS TO PERFORM IT IN. I’VE STRUGGLED WITH STRONGER FROM IT’S CONCEPTION. REMEMBER LAST SUMMER WHEN I CANCELED SOME TV APPEARANCES. IT WAS BECAUSE I DIDN’T WANT TO PERFORM STRONGER IN THE DAYTIME. ANYONE WHO CAME TO THE GLOW TOUR CAN UNDERSTAND WHY I WANTED PEOPLE TO SEE IT PROPERLY. IT BROKE MY HEART THAT I COULDN’T GIVE THESE FANS STRONGER IN IT’S GREATEST FORM… BY THE TIME I GOT TO STRONGER IT WAS DAYTIME AND IT BROKE MY HEART. I’M SORRY TO EVERYONE THAT I DIDN’T HAVE THE ABILITY 2 GIVE THE PERFORMANCE I WANTED TO. I’M SORRY… SOMETIMES I GO 2, 3 DAYS W/O SLEEP WORKING ON MY PERFORMANCE… I HAVE TO ICE MY KNEES AFTER EVERY SHOW AND THEY HURT WHEN I WALK THROUGH THE AIRPORT… HAVING AN EXPENSIVE STAGE CUTS MY PAYDAY IN HALF… CALL ME WHAT YOU WANT BUT NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL!!!

Pretty Lights - Yellow Bird

I would be lying if I said I still buy CDs… I rarely do unless I really feel the project deserves it. Pretty Lights is one of my favorite producers. He has always released his music for free on his website. This is the first album that he’s made physical copies of yet is still offering the album for free via download. I really appreciate all the hard work he’s put into his music. Anyone that went to Bonnaroo and saw him play from 2 to 7 in the morning will agree that the dude is doing his thing right now. Next to R. Kelly he was one of my favorite performances. I bought the album and it came in this week; I regret nothing. Thanks for a great album Derek.

This track is my favorite on the album.

I found quality tracked flac files for the "Rock N’ Soul Dance Party Superjam"The Superjam was recorded by someone off of inforoo.com by the name of MSTaper so everyone can be thankful to him. I’ve taken the liberty of converting the files into MP3’s for everyone. The song posted above is when Jim James brought R. Kelly out to perform “Change Is Gonna Come”.

Each song is properly tagged. The rar that these files come in has a document with all the info of who’s performing what song. The same information can be found under the lyrics.

I won’t be checking this link so if it dies just send me a message and I’ll re-upload it somewhere for ya. All that I ask is that you spread the love and reblog this so everyone can enjoy this amazing performance.

The set can be downloaded in its entirety HERE

I’ve been avoiding discussing my Bonnaroo experience because it wasn’t all good. Although I had a great time, if it wasn’t for the people that I met and the great artists we saw, I would’ve thought that Bonnaroo was crap. Before I get a bunch of angry Bonnaroovians sending me hate messages let…

I’m not trying to be rude or mean here, but I do have a few things to say: 1, bonnaroo has been the same price for about the past 5 years (as long as I have gone or known people to have gone, while ultra goes up in price every year) That being said, that’s why there isn’t much that changes. Why does something already wonderful need any changes? Secondly, its stated everywhere that no matter what time you get there, it all depends on the gate you enter and the line you go through as to where you are camped. I got there at 12pm waiting less than 20 minutes and i was at pod 10, where as last year i entered from the interstate, and i was less than a 5 minute walk from centeroo, you can’t expect that getting there early will help you get a better spot. Last but not least, you dropped the keys out of your pocket, bonnaroo has always made it to where only people they hire (towing companies ect) are allowed on site, it’s for safety, and yes its expensive but don’t blame them for your mistake. It sucks that happened to you, but all this complaining is about things you could have easily known about if you had researched a little about the festival that you had already gone to once before.

This is the most ignorant selfish and biased response a person could have posted. You are in no way affiliated with Bonnaroo other than by being an attendee of the festival to defend half of the things you spoke about.

This was taken directly from the Bonnaroo website. I’ve underlined the important part for you once again.

CAMPGROUND OPENING TIMES

TheGeneral Admission Campgrounds will OPEN at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.

TheVIP Campgroundwill OPEN at 7:00 AM on Thursday, June 13, 2013.

All Campgrounds will CLOSE at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 17, 2013.

Managing incoming traffic is the closest thing we know to rocket science. We have three General Admission entrances or Tollbooths - as well as a VIP Tollbooth for VIP ticket holders. In order to get everyone in as quickly as possible, we carefully balance the number of vehicles coming into each Tollbooth. Please take the suggested routes below and obey all law enforcement directions, as well as electronic message boards that may post an alternative route.

What determines where you camp? The Tollbooth you enter through and the time you arrive. Does this mean some people get “better” camping spots than others? Yeah, it does. Life is unfair. But no matter where you camp, you’re close to bathrooms, water, security and medical staff. And keep in mind that a closer-in campsite doesn’t mean a better view of the stage. It’s just a shorter walk, and the exercise doesn’t hurt. Furthermore, we know from experience that amazingly great times are had in every corner of the campground. Who knows – you could be camped right next door to your new BFF.

First of all, I’m not blaming anyone for losing my keys. You’re not going to insult me by discrediting everything I wrote trying to make me seem irresponsible. Being in the pit can get crazy and anyone that has been in it knows. Anyone can lose their keys, shit happens… that’s not the issue. I handled my problem… My insurance was more than willing to give me a new car. As a matter of fact… as previously mentioned, THEY DID by sending a tow truck with a new car for us. Bonnaroo refused to let the driver my insurance sent into the camp grounds to pick up the original vehicle because they’d rather make $150 off of you with their private towing company. To move my car from the POD to the gate, which was less than a block, you think it’s fair to charge me $150?! You’re  defending the contracting of a tow company and locksmith claiming it’s for safety… really?…

The other option was to wait until Thursday (06/20) which was when they’d let other tow truck companies in to pick up the car. We were almost even willing to accept that when we told them we weren’t going to pay it. We called our insurance so they can pay it when the Hullett people got upset they had to wait and started insulting us before leaving. When we weren’t at the campground they came back without our permission or authorization and towed the car into their own tow yard. They have since been holding it hostage with the owner of Hullett turning off his phone whenever our rental company calls. This was the one vacation my budget could afford this year. I’ve saved all year since the last Bonnaroo for this… I have EVERY right to be livid that I lost an entire Saturday dealing with Bonnaroo and the crooks they contract.

No one goes to Bonnaroo year after year expecting things to be the same. You’re not paying for things to stay the same… you’re paying for a new experience. That’s why the line-up is always changing… that’s why they invest in things like the wristbands and tell us to donate for solar panels, to improve the festival. Those improvements as of right now are not benefiting anyone but themselves. Tougher security systems so no one can sneak in… Natural energy so their power bill isn’t high… it isn’t selfish of me to expect them to make improvements that benefit the festival goers. Two years in a row theyve asked in the survey they send after the festival if they should put free showers or a shuttle service… has that happened?

This isn’t my first year at Bonnaroo… Research has absolutely nothing to do with anything that happened to me. I appreciate the selfishness you’ve shown for the sake of defending the music festival. I apologize if my misfortune offended you and your mindset that just because you had a good time, anything bad that may have happened to anyone else is bullshit and their own fault. You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. We’re encouraged to radiate positivity… Im positive that you should think before you speak.

I’ve been avoiding discussing my Bonnaroo experience because it wasn’t all good. Although I had a great time, if it wasn’t for the people that I met and the great artists we saw, I would’ve thought that Bonnaroo was crap. Before I get a bunch of angry Bonnaroovians sending me hate messages let me explain myself… I have very valid reasons.

Let’s start with our arrival… We get to Manchester at 6 in the morning to try to be some of the first people in line. We’re told that this year they are not allowing anyone to make a line until the gates open at 5. We were by the east gate which has a house next to it that lets you camp there for $10. Instead we gave him $10 so we can stay there until they start letting people in. We watched as they forced every person that tried to line up turn around to go to Wal-Mart. They literally didn’t let the line start until 5 PM. This was possibly the most unfair thing to do to people who arrived early hoping to be able to camp near Centeroo. It gets worse….. Once they actually start letting people in they stick the first couple thousand in POD 1 which is still a 30-45 minute walk to Centeroo. IT GETS WORSE…. They treated us like caged animals and told us that we cannot leave the POD until 6 AM on Thursday. There was maybe 2 places in the POD with food, one for beer… The water tasted like SHIT. It left a thick residue in your mouth and was absolutely disgusting… The only place for drinkable water was in Centeroo. We were the earliest in and we were treated like the ugly step children of Bonnaroo.

Almost nothing changed from last year to this year. First time Bonnaroovians might not mind because it’s all new to them but I met a lot of people who felt the same way. The decorations were last years left-overs… You can tell because the design and font on the check-ins and photo things were last years design. The arch looked like construction paper on top of last years arch. Almost every vendor was the same in the same place and most didn’t have any new products… especially the clothing companies. Adult Swim had the same exact games as last year, the only difference was the Meatwad Theater which was supposed to be a trippy show that could barely be seen during the day due to the sun yet the Adult Swim section closed SUPER EARLY everyday… WTF? Why are we paying so much money for nothing to change? Look at Ultra…. No Ultra has ever been the same. The stages are always changing… they always make improvements and it’s nowhere near the size of Bonnaroo. The very least that can be done is a screen at each tent so if you’re far back you can still enjoy the artists.

This brings me to my next point… Bonnaroo’s greed. 110,000 people were on the farm this year… take away maybe 4,000 wristbands that were given to local residents… At $280 a ticket which was the average, Bonnaroo made $29,680,000 on tickets alone. That’s not including what they charge vendors to be there, festicabs (which threw us at the entrance for our POD and refused to take us any further but demanded tips), showers and anything else they happily overcharged you for. With all that money… WHERE WERE THE IMPROVEMENTS?!

On Saturday I was stuck in a huge mosh pit and the keys to our car fell out of my pocket at some point. We had a rental that we drove from Miami. The insurance was going to cover the lost key and sent a tow truck with a new car and was supposed to pick up the original rental. Bonnaroo made sure to make this impossible for us and we lost our entire Saturday dealing with this. Bonnaroo contracts a towing company and locksmith to be the only people allowed on the premise. That means if you need your car moved for any reason… whether it be because of dead battery or like us, you lose the key for it… you have to pay an astronomical fee. The locksmith charged us $50 for a two second job which we needed since all of our valuables were in the car… he literally was there for less than 4 minutes. Since Bonnaroo wouldn’t let the tow truck with our new car in to pick up the old one…. Bonnaroo’s private towing company Hullett wanted to charge us $150 to take the car from the POD to the gate. We refused to come out of pocket and wanted to contact our insurance company to see if they would cover it. While my sister was on the phone trying to get it resolved, the completely unprofessional asshole from the towing company and his wife were insulting my sister calling her a bitch and telling her that “I don’t have all day to wait for your ass, you’re not important” While Hullett waited for the payment from our insurance company security took us 3 miles out of the campgrounds to where our new car was with the towing company and straight up left us there. We couldn’t get the new car because Hullett hadn’t picked up the old one. We had to walk 5 miles back to the campground because they took us out through the staff exit and didn’t want to let us back in. Once back we find out that Hullett towed our car without payment or authorization and has been holding it in their yard since. Hullett is a 5 employee company and their “Company telephone” is some guys cell phone. When Enterprise called him to find out where our car was… he answered once saying “yeah, it might be around here” then turned his phone off. Our rental company couldn’t get us a new car because Hullett illegally took our old car. Like I mentioned earlier, we lost our entire Saturday then when Monday came around we were stranded in Manchester, TN.

We met some amazing people and the artists really did give their all at Bonnaroo… Unfortunately, the people that throw this festival don’t care as much about the attendees as they do about making a fat paycheck.

I’ve made all my outfits for Bonnaroo

The 8-bit space invaders inspired shirt above is still drying. It should be done tomorrow then I can remove the white squares. There’s also a tie-dye shirt that’s still drying.

I only have one more outfit to make and the only reason I haven’t yet is because I can’t decide if I want it to say “R.I.P Ned Stark” or “Death to Joffrey”.. Help me out?
